Lauren is busy inside sanding the crow’s feet texture off our walls (where it is nice and air conditioned), and Steven slaves in the Texas heat removing dead bushes and their roots (I think we all know who deserves your sympathy). We haven’t finished either project, but wanted to post an update of how things are looking. The first picture is from GoogleMaps, but gives a decent idea of the before. As you can see all the bushes are quite dead and ugly. And the second picture is the after, where instead of ugly dead bushes, we have ugly dirt … I know, it truly is a dramatic improvement. Steven has learned that this is harder than it sounds, as roots have a way of being difficult to remove. Now we just need to figure out what kind of bushes to plant. Any ideas?

I am all about some instrumental music. The soil here expands and contracts rather dramatically and will wreak havoc on a foundation. There are a ton of companies in the Metroplex who repair foundations and it seems to be a pretty common problem with homes.

One corner of our home had significant fluctuation (1.7 inches in only 12 feet). We brought in several foundation companies for estimates and finally made a decision to get it fixed. This morning several workers come and dug nine, six-foot deep holes. They then inserted concrete piers twenty feet below our foundation. Finally the foundation was raised on one half of our home. It was quite a project but the entire thing was complete in just a few hours. (see pictures in next post)

There is now a noticeable difference (in a good way) from what the home was like before. Perhaps the easiest change to see if the lack of bushes on half of our home. We did not like these bushes, and they were contributing to our foundation problems so we decided to have them removed. While the workers were digging holes, Steven was cutting up the bushes and piling them on the street. Ultimately we are happy they are gone, but are open to suggestions for what we should do on the side of the yard. Any ideas?

Here is the video from the article below. We then moved to the new trendy platform of Posterous … until it was purchased by Twitter a few weeks ago. Now we have moved to our new website, using Tumblr.

The format is perfect for more micro-blogging - which ultimately means faster and easier updates to the blog.

Additionally, when you comment it will ask you to enter an email address, don’t worry you are not signing up for a service, it is only a security measure against spam comments.

So enjoy the new blog!

His Grace is Sufficient - Brad Wilcox

His Grace is Sufficient - Brad Wilcox:
Fantastic talk - a great read before Easter

Just saw Disney’s Mary Poppins at Bass Hall in Ft.
